Beautiful Souls!
It’s the start of a new week, our minds are racing with all that needs to be done in the week, the meetings we need to attend, the deadlines to meet, the emails to catch up on, the children’s academic and sports activities to get them to on time, etc, etc, etc. This is all beautifully and meticulously plugged into our digital calendar or fancy app for perfect execution during the week. However, do we set aside time in our calendar for a tea or coffee break, or a lunch break, just a 15-minute breather? Absolutely not! We think we can fit these things into our day, but find that most days we’ve gone well into the afternoon and have not had a really needed bathroom break, or well-deserved beverage break away from our workstations. Never mind fill our bodies with a nutritional lunch
We find ourselves left cranky, our metabolism slows down &our bodies and mind goes into distress which eventually turns into some form of discomfort (headache, burnout, stress, tight muscles, etc).
So how do we change this? Easy! Ask yourself, “CAN IT WAIT?”
Can that email wait 15 minutes whilst I make myself a beverage? Can I call my colleague back after I’ve had my bathroom break? Can I attend to my deadline after I’ve taken out 30 minutes of my day to fill my body with some nutrition and relax my mind? And what I think most people will have the most difficulty with is…….Can I answer my bosses call in 15 minutes?
Of course, some things that are time-sensitive can’t wait like getting the kids to school on time, or attending to scheduled meetings or appointments. But these don’t make up most of our day and should be the exception to “CAN IT WAIT?”
So, start this week by practicing plugging in time in your calendar for beverage breaks, lunch breaks, time for a quick stretch, time for a quick walk around the block, time for a 10-minute meditation, time to read a few pages of the book you can’t get to finish or just 10 minutes to blank out. If you do this, you will absolutely go back about your day feeling a lot more refreshed and able to tick off your list with much ease.
Start practicing this and the quality of your life will change positively and you will feel revitalised from the inside out.
